McGill Hose & Coupling’s Harry McGill Honored with NAHAD’s George W. Carver Award for Lifetime Industry Excellence

McGill Hose & Coupling is proud to announce that its recently retired President and Owner, Harry McGill, was honored with the George W. Carver Outstanding Commitment to Industry Excellence Award during the 2025 NAHAD(National Association for Hose and Accessories Distribution)Convention, held in Tampa, Florida. This annual event ​​brings together top decision-makers in the hose and hose accessories distribution industry -manufacturers and distributors converge to learn from industry experts, see state-of-the-art products, explore year-round training and learning opportunities and accelerate business.

This award—NAHAD’s highest honor—recognizes individuals who exemplify excellence in leadership, mentorship, and long-standing contributions to the hose and accessories industry. Introduced in 2007, the award commemorates the legacy of George W. Carver, a founding father and third president of NAHAD, remembered for his dedication, grace, and commitment to developing people and companies across the industry.
Outgoing NAHAD President Brian Pellegrin introduced the ceremony by honoring the legacy of previous recipients and describing Harry McGill as “a titan in the industry, a founding member of the Hose Safety Institute, and a friend to many in the room.”
Pellegrin shared personal reflections on Harry’s deep industry insight and storytelling ability, calling him a figure who “embodies the spirit of the George W. Carver Award.”
“You know, I’ve had the pleasure of working with him at NAHAD, working on the board, working on special projects, things like that. A true gentleman, a very smart man, a very caring man, a leader, and a friend to everybody. So I really appreciated knowing him and working with him,” states Pellegrin.
McGill Hose & Coupling was founded in 1962 by Harry’s father, and Harry joined the business in 1969. Under his leadership, the company expanded its technical capabilities and footprint across New England, becoming the premier hose solutions provider in the Northeast. McGill now operates out of three locations—in East Longmeadow, MA; Woburn, MA; and East Providence, RI—and employs more than 80 dedicated team members.
At the award ceremony, Harry’s son and third-generation President, Alex McGill, delivered an emotional tribute. The moment celebrated not just a business milestone, but the enduring values of a family committed to integrity, service, and excellence.
“He balanced business and family not by splitting his time, but by giving 100% to each,” said Alex. “Dad, your legacy is more than the business you’ve built. It’s the minds you’ve sharpened, the people you’ve believed in, and the values you’ve lived every day.”

“Receiving this award today is just beyond belief for me. Being recognized by NAHAD, by my peers, by the industry, is just something that’s absolutely unforgettable. But this is also a tribute to George Carver,” states Harry McGill.

“You know, I’ve had the pleasure of working with him at NAHAD, working on the board, working on special projects, things like that. A true gentleman, a very smart man, a very caring man, a leader, and a friend to everybody. So I really appreciated knowing him and working with him.”
